VERKAUFT - Malen auf Leinwand "So what?"

Ich kann es kaum abwarten, Euch mein neuestes Gemälde zu zeigen. Ich finde es im Moment einfach nur grandios und bin gespannt, was Ihr davon haltet, denn es ist etwas "unkonventionell". Es ist auf ungespannte Leinwand gemalt.

I can't wait to show you my latest painting. At the moment, I think it's just amazing and I am curious, what you think, because it's a little bit "unconventional". It is painted on unstretched canvas.

Es ist dadurch entstanden, dass ich in der letzten Woche in einem großen Laden für Künstlerbedarf war und vor einem großen Keilrahmen stand (ich glaube er war 1,00 m x 1,20 m) und drauf und dran war, ihn zu kaufen. Eigentlich mag ich ja keine Keilrahmen, aber die Größe hat mich gereizt und außerdem wünsche ich mir oft, nicht erst etwas zusammenbauen zu müssen. Er sah so gut aus und ich habe lange überlegt, ob ich ihn kaufen soll. Es war ein qualitativ sehr hochwertiger Keilrahmen und deshalb auch nicht ganz billig.

It's arisen, because last week I was in a large art supply store and was standing in front of a large canvas (I think it was 1.00 x 1.20 m) and was on the verge of buying it. Actually I do not like canvases, but the size attracted me and I also often wish, that I don't have to assemble something before I can start. The canvas looked so good and I was wondering a long time, wether I should buy it. It was a very high quality canvas and therefore not cheap.

Ich habe mich des Geldes wegen dann dazu entschlossen, einen in der Größe von 20 x 20 cm zu kaufen, um es erst noch einmal mit den Keilrahmen auszuprobieren. Und was soll ich sagen? Ich bin so froh, dass ich den großen nicht gekauft habe. Ich hasse Keilrahmen immer noch. Ich mag es nicht nur nicht, wenn sie an der Wand hängen, sondern ich mag es auch nicht, auf so einem wabbeligen Untergrund zu malen.

For the money I decided then to buy one in the size of 20 x 20 cm, just to give it another try with the canvases. And, what can I say? I'm so glad that I have not bought the large one. I still hate canvases. I do not only not like it on the wall, but I also do not like to paint on such a flabby base.

Weil ich aber schon lange große Bilder malen möchte, habe ich mir trotzdem Leinwand gekauft. Leinwand am Stück, die nicht auf einen Keilrahmen gespannt ist. Ich habe ein Stück davon mit Klebeband an eine Tür geklebt und gemalt.

But because I wanted to paint large paintings for some time, I bought some unstretched canvas. I taped a piece of it to a door and painted.

Ich finde es ist viel einfacher, nicht so "ordentlich" zu malen (was ich mir oft wünsche), wenn man mehr Platz zum Malen hat.

I find it's much easier to paint more loosely (which I often wish), if you have more space to paint.

Zwischendurch dachte ich immer wieder, dass es einfach nur genial ist, um mich dann einen Moment später wieder zu fragen, ob das wohl jemals etwas werden wird. Es war wirklich eine Achterbahnfahrt.

In between, I always thought that it is just awesome and then, a moment later, I thought it will never be good. It was really a ride on a rollercoaster.

Und dann fand es irgendwann zusammen.

And then it came together sometime.

Und bügeln kann man bemalte Leinwand übrigens auch.

And, by thy way, you can iron painted canvas.

Es hat außerordentlich viel Spaß gemacht, dieses Bild zu malen. Es ist so anders. Ich habe an den Rändern Ösen angebracht, an denen es an der Wand aufgehängt werden kann.

It was so much fun to paint this painting. It's so different. I attached eyelets to the edges, with which it can be hung on the wall.

Es ist vielleicht nicht unbedingt für den Verkauf geeignet und es trifft wahrscheinlich auch nicht den Geschmack von vielen, aber ich finde es einfach großartig. Es ist so anders eben.

It might not necessarily be suitable for sale and it's probably not even the taste of many, but I find it gorgeous. It's just so different.

Hier hängt es nun in unserem Wohnzimmer an der Wand.

It now hangs on this wall in our living room.
