why I don't continue with my "one painting a day"

Ich bin mit meinem "One painting a day" fertig. Ich dachte mir schon, dass ich es nicht lange durchhalten würde. Ich male zwar weiterhin jeden Tag, aber nicht mehr mit dem Anspruch, ein Bild fertigzukommen. Es hat nicht lange gedauert, bis durch das tägliche Malen meine Experimentierfreude wieder geweckt wurde. Nun möchte ich die Zeit, die ich täglich habe, damit verbringen, neue, spannende Dinge zu entdecken.

I'm already done with my "One painting a day". I thought, that I wouldn't stick it out too long. Although I still paint every day, I don't do it any longer with the claim, to finish a painting a day. It did not take long. until by daily painting my experimentation was awakened again. Now I would like to spend the time, that I have every day, to discover new, exciting things.

Ich finde Aquarellfarbe gerade sehr spannend und Enkaustik und Gips. Man kann aber nicht, wenn man etwas ausprobiert, mit dem Gedanken darangehen, dass auch direkt etwas brauchbares herauskommen muß. Es muß Spass machen, egal ob es was wird, oder nicht. Das liefert dann sowieso die besten Ergebnisse. Wenn ich denke, ich muß ein Bild fertig bekommen, wird es frustierend, denn das nimmt die Experimentierfreude, denn es könnte ja was schief gehen. Es muß auch was schief gehen dürfen, denn nur dadurch kommt man auf neue Ideen und probiert weitere Dinge aus.

I just find watercolor very exciting at the moment and encaustic and plaster. But, if you try something new, you can't proceed with the idea, that something useful has to come out directly. It has to be fun, whether it is good in the end, or not. This provides the best results then anyway. If I think, that I have to get a painting finished, it is frustrating, because that takes the willingness to experiment, for it might go wrong. But it must be possible, to go wrong, for only thus you come up with new ideas and try out other things.

Aber lange Rede kurzer Sinn - Es fing an mit diesem kleinen Bild. Es ist nur ungefähr 10 cm groß, mit Aquarellfarbe gemalt, und eigentlich für "one painting a day" gedacht, aber im Hinterkopf hatte ich schon auch, nach einer Möglichkeit zu suchen, dieses Enkaustik-Ding (Enkaustik ist eine Bienenwachs/Dammarharz-Mischung, die heiß aufgetragen wird) in meine Werke zu integrieren. Daher die Aquarellfarbe, denn Enkaustik läßt sich nicht mit Acrylfarben kombinieren.

But, long story short - it began with this little picture. It is only about 10 cm tall, painted with watercolors, and actually for "one painting a day" meant, but I also had in mind, to look for a way, to integrate this encaustic thing (encaustic is a beeswax/damarresin-mix, which is applied hot) in my works. Therefore the watercolor, because encaustic can't be combined with acrylics.

Es ist für mich daher nicht so ganz einfach, denn mein Medium ist hauptsächlich die Acrylfarbe. Also gibt es viel auszuprobieren.

Therefore it's not so easy for me, because my mainly medium is acrylic paint. So there is much to try and discover.

Man kann das Wachs, das ich auf diese kleine Collage aufgetragen habe, wirklich nur schwer im Foto festhalten.

The wax, that I have applied to this small collage, is really difficult to show in the photo.

Es ist ein Buchdeckel, der noch zu einem Buch zusammengefügt werden muß. Na ja, jedenfalls wurde durch dieses Bild meine Experimentierfreude wieder richtig geweckt.

It's a bookcover, which still has to get some pages. Well, anyway, with this painting my experimentation was awakened.

In diesem Aquarellfarben-Klecks habe ich dann einen Akt entdeckt.

In this splash of watercolor I discovered a nude.

Ich stelle mir dafür nun einen Untergrund aus Gips vor (und vielleicht Enkaustik), aber das benötigt etwas Zeit, um das Herauszufinden, zumal sich das Trocknen des Gipses nicht beschleunigen läßt. Ich weiß noch nicht genau, wie es damit weitergehen soll, aber vielleicht, wenn der Gips trocken ist.

For it, I imagine now a base of plaster (and perhaps encaustic). To find out, it requires some time, especially since the drying of the plaster can't be accelerated. I don't know exactly how to proceed with it, but maybe when the plaster is dry.

In der Zwischenzeit beschäftige ich mich weiter mit der Aquarellfarbe.

In the meantime, I deal with some watercolor paint.
