Time flies, a work in progress and an exhibition
Oh Gott, die Zeit fliegt. Wir haben ein paar Tage in Holland verbracht.
OMG, Time flies. We spent some days in the Netherlands.
Ich habe dort nur die Zeit für diese beiden Zeichnungen gehabt und davon geträumt, diese in große Gemälde zu verwandeln und mir zuhause auch mal wieder Zeit fürs Zeichnen zu nehmen.
There, I only had time for these two drawings and dreamed of transforming them into large paintings and of taking more time for drawing, when back home.
Wieder zuhause haben wir die Scheiben des Gewächshauses geputzt. Wir machen das im Frühjahr und im Herbst. Zwei Tage kann man dafür doch schon einplanen. Beim nächsten Mal müssen wir aber daran denken, es nicht zu machen, wenn die Sonne scheint. Es war eine ganz schön schweißtreibende Angelegenheit.
Back home, we have cleaned the windows of the greenhouse. We do this in spring and autumn. We can plan two days for that. Next time, however, we must remember not to do it when the sun shines. It was a pretty sweaty affair.
Die Scheiben waren gar nicht von außen dreckig, sondern von innen. Von außen wäre ja auch zu leicht. Es sammeln sich oben in der Spitze immer sooo viele Fliegen. Ich werde mich wohl für den nächsten Sommer mal nach einem Insektenvernichter umsehen.
The panes were not dirty from the outside, but from within. From the outside would be too easy. There are always soooo many flies at the top. Probably I have to search an insect killer for next summer.
Ich habe dann dieses Gemälde angefangen, von dem ich im Moment ganz begeistert bin.
Then, I have started this painting. I am very excited about it at the moment.

Sie gefällt mir so gut und ich hoffe, dass ich am Montag an ihr weiterarbeiten kann. Da ich am Wochenende an dieser Gruppenausstellung teilnehme, wird es vorher nicht gehen. Ich hoffe, der Zauber ist bis dahin nicht verflogen.
I like her so much and I hope, that I can continue working on her on Monday. Since I attend at this group exhibition at the weekend, it will not be possible earlier. I hope the magic is not gone by then.
Ich bin aber auch ganz gespannt, was mich am Wochenende erwartet. Ich habe an solch einer Ausstellung noch nicht teilgenommen. Wer aus der Nähe kommt, ist natürlich herzlich eingeladen. Der Eintritt ist frei.

Ich muß nun mal meine Sachen dafür zusammensuchen.

VERKAUFT - "Orange Lady"

Vielleicht erinnert sich ja noch jemand an sie. Auf Facebook habe ich sie damals mal gezeigt. Es fing erst sehr gut mit ihr an

and progressed rapidly
aber dann stimmte irgendwie gar nichts mehr an ihr
but then, somehow nothing worked anymore
und ich habe sie alle paar Wochen mal wieder rausgeholt und mal dies und mal das geändert. Ich möchte gar nicht wissen, wieviele Stunden ich mit ihr verbracht habe. Ich könnte auch jetzt noch weiter an ihr rummalen, aber da sie mir jetzt eigentlich wieder sehr gut gefällt, lass ich sie jetzt gehen. Nein, eigentlich finde ich sie sogar richtig toll jetzt, aber ich könnte trotzdem noch an ihr weitermalen. :) Egal, ich schließe das jetzt ab.
and I've changed this and that every couple of weeks. I do not even want to know, how many hours I spent with her. I could even now continue to paint her, but as I now actually like her, I'll let her go now. No, I really think that she is great now, but I could nevertheless still continue to paint her. Anyway, I finish it now.

VERKAUFT - "Romeo, oh Romeo" Gemälde mit Blattgold
Ich glaube ich habe dieses Bild hier auf meinem Blog noch gar nicht gezeigt.
I think I haven't shown this painting on my blog so far.
Ich habe es Anfang des Monats gemalt und bis jetzt überlegt, ob ich noch weiter daran arbeite. Ich hätte gerne noch etwas mit Ölfarben daran ausprobiert. Da ich mich mit Ölfarben aber bisher gar nicht auskenne, habe ich mich nun endlich entschlossen, es doch lieber zu lassen. Irgendwie ist das, was mir vorschwebt, doch nur eine wage Vorstellung und um dieses Bild nicht zu ruinieren, probiere ich es doch lieber mal an was anderem aus. Na ja, wie auch immer, es ist jetzt fertig. Wieder mit Kohle.
I have painted it earlier this month and was considering up to now, whether I work further on it. I would have liked to try something with oil paints on it. But since I'm not familiar with oil paints so far, I have finally decided not to do it. Somehow, what I have in mind is only a vague idea and because I don't want to ruin this piece, I'll try it on another thing. Well, anyway, it is now finished. Again charcoal.

In der letzten Woche in unserem Wohnzimmer
In der letzten Woche war es nicht gerade gemütlich bei uns im Wohnzimmer. Ich bin nämlich immer noch mit meinen Fine Art Drucken beschäftigt. Da ich keine freie Wand in unserem Haus finden konnte, vor der ich auch noch Platz habe, mußte die Couch im Wohnzimmer zur Seite gerückt werden.
Last week, it was not very cozy in our living room, because I'm still busy with my fine art prints. Since I could not find a free wall in our house, in front of which I have some free space, the couch in our living room had to be moved to the side.
Aber jetzt von Anfang an. Nachdem ich in der Vergangenheit oftmals kein gutes Foto für eine Reproduktion hin bekommen habe (ihr habt mich bestimmt oft jammern gehört, oder?), war der ursprüngliche Gedanke ja: Ich bringe einfach mein Gemälde zum Fotografen und kriege ein Super-Foto, von dem ich Drucke anfertigen lassen kann. Das habe ich immer mal wieder versucht und war aber jedes Mal enttäuscht. Mit den Fotos vom Fotografen war ich auch nicht glücklich. Sie waren zwar natürlich besser als meine, aber ich fand sie trotzdem nicht gut genug. Irgendwas störte mich auch an diesen immer.
But now from the beginning. After I often could not get a good photo for a reproduction in the past, (you heard me whining often, right?), the original thought was: I just bring my painting to a professional photographer and get a super picture, which I can use to make prints. I have tried this from time to time, but every time I was disappointed. Even with the photos of the photographer I was not happy, although they were obviously better than mine, I found them not yet good enough. Something bothered me at these also.
Da ich dieses Erlebnis nun vor ein paar Tagen wieder hatte, bin ich mal wieder zu der Erkenntnis gekommen, dass es nur funktionieren kann, wenn ich es selbst mache. Denn nur ich weiß was ich will und was wichtig ist. Aber wie ich es bisher getan hatte, funktionierte es ja nunmal nicht. Eine neue Kamera für diesen Zwecke hatte ich mir ja vor einiger Zeit schon zugelegt. Also dachte ich mir, dass ich jetzt mal mit der Beleuchtung weiter mache. Auf das richtige Licht zu warten, kann es ja nun auch nicht sein. Also habe ich ein paar Studiolampen bestellt, die mir für diesen Zweck geeignet schienen.
Since I had this experience now a few days ago again, I once again came to the conclusion, that it can only work, if I do it myself, because only I know what I want and what is important. But how I had done it before, it did not work. I had already bought a new camera for this purpose some time ago. So I thought to myself, that I continue now with the lighting. To wait for the right light is not a good idea. So I ordered a couple of studio lights, that seemed suitable to me for this purpose.
Und dann habe ich gefühlte 1.000 Fotos von ein und dem selben Gemälde gemacht, um die richtige Einstellung bei meiner Kamera zu finden. Da ich vom Fotografieren keine Ahnung habe und eigentlich auch gar kein Fotograf werden möchte, sondern bei der Malerei bleiben möchte, war das eine ganz schön frustrierende Angelegenheit. Mit der intelligenten Automatik funktioniert es nämlich definitiv nicht, Fotos für eine gute Reproduktion zu machen. Nach mehreren Tagen hätte ich schon fast wieder aufgegeben und bin jetzt aber um so glücklicher, dass ich es durchgehalten haben. Ich scheine tatsächlich die richtige Einstellung gefunden zu haben und kann nun glaube ich Fotos von meinen Gemälden machen, mit denen ich sehr zufrieden bin. :)
And then it felt like I took 1,000 photos of one and the same painting, to find the right setting on my camera. Since I have no idea about photography and actually I don't want to be a photographer, but want to stay a painter, this was a pretty frustrating affair. With the Intelligent Auto Setting on the camera it definitely does not work to get pictures for a good reproduction. After several days I had almost given up again and therefore I am now so happy, that I have kept going. It seems, that I have found the right settings and I think, that I can now take photos of my paintings, with whom I am very satisfied. Lucky me.

So, ich bin einen guten Schritt weiter gekommen und muß jetzt erst einmal aufräumen. Wir haben jetzt übrigens Rollen unter die Couch gemacht. Wo ich die Lampen unterbringen soll, weiß ich aber wirklich noch nicht.
So, this was a good step further and now I must clean up. Btw, we now have made rolls under the couch. But I really do not know yet, where I should put the lamps.

I have some Fine Art Prints
Ich habe mich in der letzten Woche doch noch einmal wieder an Drucke herangewagt. Irgendwie läßt es mir ja nicht lange Ruhe, wenn ich doch immer wieder Anfragen bekomme. Manchmal sage ich ja direkt "Nein, ich mache keine Drucke, ich habe die Nase voll davon", aber beim nächsten Mal denke ich mir wieder "Okay, ich versuche es doch noch einmal".
Last week, I have dared me again at art prints. Somehow, I must try it again, if I always get requests. Sometimes I say immediately "No, I do not offer prints, I'm sick of it", but next time, I think to myself "Okay, I'll try it one more time".
Dieses mal sind sie gut geworden. Ich habe sie auf Holz aufgezogen und mehrfach versiegelt, damit die Bilder auch mal mit einem feuchten Lappen abgewischt werden können.
This time they came out good. I have mounted them on wood and sealed them several times, so that the pictures can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
Ich habe die Ränder des Holzes farblich passend bemalt und auf der Rückseite einen Aufhänger angeschraubt, damit die Bilder auch wirklich direkt aufgehängt werden können.
I have painted the edges of the wood in matching colors and I also have screwed a hanger to the back of the pictures, so that they really can be hung directly to the wall.

Ansonsten waren das Leben und die Zeit in der letzten Woche nicht auf meiner Seite und ich habe mich nicht mit der Kunst beschäftigen können, wie ich es gerne getan hätte.
Otherwise, life and time were not on my side last week and so I was not able to make art, as I would have liked to.

Ein neues Zuhause für "Nicht nur für Elise"
Ich habe vor ein paar Tagen mein Bild "Nicht nur für Elise" verkauft und M U S S Euch jetzt einfach ein Foto von dem Ort zeigen, wo es gelandet ist. Sieht es nicht so aus, als wäre es genau für diesen Ort gemacht worden?
I have sold my painting "Nicht nur für Elise" a few days ago and now, I M U S T show you a photo of the place, where it has landed. Doesn't it just look, as if it had been made specifically for that place?
Es paßt einfach alles. Ich könnte mir keinen schöneren Ort für dieses Bild vorstellen. Ich bin begeistert.

No more charcoal drawings on paper for sale
Ich habe heute keine Zeichnung mehr gemacht, da es sich für mich nicht mehr richtig anfühlt.
Today, I made no more drawing, because it no longer feels right for me.
Normalerweise brauche ich viiiiel länger, als einen Tag, bis etwas bei mir fertig ist. Es dauert Tage, Wochen, oder manchmal sogar Monate. Es braucht eben so lange, wie es braucht. Und das läßt sich nicht beschleunigen. Auch wenn das Bild zwischendurch tage- oder wochenlang nur rumsteht, denke ich doch viel darüber nach und das gehört wohl auch zu meinem Prozeß dazu. Ich arbeite dann irgendwann weiter daran, oder übermale es auch wieder. Es ist aber nur ganz selten etwas an nur einem Tag fertig.
It usually takes me much longer than a day, until something is finished. It takes days, weeks, or sometimes even months. It just takes as long as it takes. And it can't be accelerated. Even though the painting is inbetween just standing around, I do think about it a lot and this probably also belongs to my process. However, it is rarely something done in just one day.
Es sind zwar ein paar coole Bilder entstanden und ein paar Ideen aufgekommen, die ich bestimmt noch weiter verfolgen möchte, aber in manches würde ich eben auch lieber noch mehr Zeit investieren. Jedenfalls möchte ich so nicht weitermachen. Also keine weiteren Zeichnungen mehr for sale. Manche Ideen stellen sich im Nachhinein doch nicht als so gut heraus und dann sollte man vielleicht doch einfach damit aufhören.
Indeed, there emerged some cool pieces and a few ideas, that I still want to pursue, but in some, I just would prefer to invest more time. Anyway, I don't want to continue like this. So, no more drawings for sale. Some ideas are not so good, as it was thought in advance and then you should maybe just stop it.
Morgen werde ich glaube ich erleichtert an dem Gemälde weitermalen, das ich am Wochenende angefangen habe. Oder vielleicht ruft mich auch ein anderes, so wie es kommt.
Tomorrow, I think I'll continue with the painting, that I've started Sunday. Or maybe another one calls me, just as it comes.

It usually takes me much longer than a day, until something is finished. It takes days, weeks, or sometimes even months. It just takes as long as it takes. And it can't be accelerated. Even though the painting is inbetween just standing around, I do think about it a lot and this probably also belongs to my process. However, it is rarely something done in just one day.
Es sind zwar ein paar coole Bilder entstanden und ein paar Ideen aufgekommen, die ich bestimmt noch weiter verfolgen möchte, aber in manches würde ich eben auch lieber noch mehr Zeit investieren. Jedenfalls möchte ich so nicht weitermachen. Also keine weiteren Zeichnungen mehr for sale. Manche Ideen stellen sich im Nachhinein doch nicht als so gut heraus und dann sollte man vielleicht doch einfach damit aufhören.
Indeed, there emerged some cool pieces and a few ideas, that I still want to pursue, but in some, I just would prefer to invest more time. Anyway, I don't want to continue like this. So, no more drawings for sale. Some ideas are not so good, as it was thought in advance and then you should maybe just stop it.
Morgen werde ich glaube ich erleichtert an dem Gemälde weitermalen, das ich am Wochenende angefangen habe. Oder vielleicht ruft mich auch ein anderes, so wie es kommt.
Tomorrow, I think I'll continue with the painting, that I've started Sunday. Or maybe another one calls me, just as it comes.

Heute scheint mich die Software, die ich benutze, um E-Mails an meinen Newsletter-Verteiler zu senden, im Stich zu lassen. Es tut mir leid, falls jemand gewartet hat. Ich kann im Moment leider keinen Newsletter abschicken.
Today, it seems, as if the software, that I use to send e-mails to my mailing list, let me down. I'm so sorry, if anyone has been waiting for my mail, but I can't send a newsletter at the moment. I really hope, that it works again, tomorrow.

All I want to do is painting!
Oh man, die Probleme, die man als Maler, der seine Werke im Internet anbietet, so hat, sind manchmal sowas von nervig. Womit man sich alles auskennen soll, wenn man doch eigentlich nur Malen möchte!
Oh my, the problems, that you have as a painter, who offers his works on the internet, are sometimes such a pain. What you should know about everything, when all you want to do is just painting!
Gestern habe ich bestimmt wieder vier Stunden am Computer verbracht, mit Dingen von denen ich gar keine Ahnung hab. Eigentlich wollte ich nur ein Foto auf Instagram posten, das ich mit meinem Fotoapparat gemacht habe. Da stellte sich zuerst die Frage, wie bekomme ich das Foto von meiner Kamera auf mein iPad? Einen Adapter habe ich nicht, also bleibt nur der Weg über den Computer.
Yesterday I spent again four hours at the computer, doing things of which I have no idea. Actually, I just wanted to post a photo on Instagram, which I have made with my camera. So first it turned out the question, how do I get the photo from my camera to my iPad? I don't have an adapter, so the only way to do it is through the computer.
Ich habe gegoogelt und herausgefunden, dass das nur über verschiedene Apps geht, die man kaufen kann oder über iTunes. Also dachte ich, ich mache das "einfach" über iTunes. Habe dann aber festgestellt, das iTunes mein iPad nicht erkennt und nach einer Weile bemerkt, das der PC auch sonst das iPad nicht mehr findet. Da habe ich auch schon das nächste Problem gehabt.
I've googled and discovered, that this is only possible through various Apps, that you can buy, or on iTunes. So i thought, I'm doing it the "easy" way on iTunes. But then i found, that iTunes does not recognize my iPad and noticed after a while that even the PC does no longer find it. So I already had the next problem.
Ich habe also wieder gegoogelt und dann iTunes deinstalliert und wieder neu installiert und bin jede Menge anderer Anweisungen gefolgt, die ich im Netz finden konnte. Habe dann müde um 24.00 Uhr den Computer ausgeschaltet. Leider erkennt mein Laptop nach wie vor mein iPad nicht. So eine Sch....!
So I googled again and then uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it and I followed a lot of other instructions, that I could find on the net. I then switched off the computer at midnight totally tired. Unfortunately my laptop still does not recognize my iPad. Such a sh...!
Heute morgen habe ich beschlossen, bis heute abend erst mal Computer Computer sein lassen, und etwas zu malen.
This morning I decided to let the computer alone till the evening and paint some more.

VERKAUFT - Ten charcoal drawings on paper for sale - 1/10
Ich werde des öfteren gefragt, ob ich nicht auch Drucke anbieten könnte. Leider habe ich noch keine zufriedenstellende Lösung dafür gefunden. Um aber auch mal etwas preisgünstigeres anzubieten, habe ich mir heute, als ich mit dem Hund spazieren war, etwas ausgedacht. Soll ich sagen?
From time to time I'm asked, if I could offer prints. Unfortunately, I have not found a satisfying solution for that, yet. But to offer something less expensive, I came up with something today, while walking the dog. Shall I say?
Also, ich habe mir vorgenommen, zehn Kohlezeichnungen auf Papier anzufertigen. Ich werde jeden Tag - außer am Wochenende - eine Zeichnung machen und sie abends, sagen wir mal 21.00 Uhr, hier zum Kauf anbieten. Du kannst das Bild dann nicht direkt an die Wand hängen, denn es muß erst gerahmt werden, aber das kannst Du dann machen wie es Dir gefällt.
So, I've decided to make ten charcoal drawings on paper. I'm going to make one drawing every day - excluding weekends - and will offer it for sale here in the evening, let's say 21.00 o'clock. You can't hang the drawing directly on the wall, because it must be framed first, but you can do it then as you like.
Ich werde sie, egal wie groß oder klein, wieviel oder wie wenig Arbeit darin steckte, für nur xxx Euro inklusive internationalem Versand anbieten. Das Angebot bleibt jedoch für jede Zeichnung nur solange bestehen, bis es am nächsten Abend durch die neue Zeichnung abgelöst wird. Danach werde ich die Zeichnung selbst auf Holz aufziehen, oder rahmen und dann natürlich nicht mehr zu diesem Preis anbieten.
I will, no matter how big or small, how much or how little work I put into it, offer it for only xxx Euro, international shipping included. The offer will only remain, until it is replaced the next evening by the new drawing. After that, I will mount the drawing on wood, or frame it and then of course I can't offer this price anymore.

cooles Gemälde kaufen "Kopf hoch"
Hier ist mein neuestes Bild mit dem Namen "Kopf hoch". Ich bin happy mit diesem Gemälde, aber gar nicht mit meinen Fotos. Da ich jetzt aber so viele Bilder geschossen habe, und es einfach nicht besser hin bekomme, habe ich nur noch die Wahl zwischen "Scheißfotoszeigen" oder "Garnichtzeigen". Ich habe mich schweren Herzens für ersteres entschieden.
Here is my latest painting with the title "Kopf hoch" which means "heads up". I'm happy with this painting, but not at all with my photos. But since I've shot so many pictures now, and I just can't get it better, I have only the choice between "showingshitphotos" or "showingnothing". I decided for the first option.

Actually, it is not the whole painting, because the braid is still missing.
Er ist aus Sari-Seide geflochten und

Diese Farbe am Rand ist kupferfarbene Metallicfarbe.
This color on the edge is copper-colored metallic paint.
