If I haven't written anything on my blog for so long, I don't know where to start, so I just start here and now. I have my computer in another room at the moment, because I can connect it there with a cable and so I don't need WLAN. Although this can't be a permanent solution, it works for now.
Nun aber zu interessanteren Dingen. Ich muß Euch unbedingt erzählen, was ich vor ein paar Tagen für mich entdeckt habe.
But now, some much more interesting things. I have to show you what I've discoverd for me a few days ago.
Ich habe letzten Sonntag im Garten gezeichnet
Last sunday, I have drawn in the garden
und dann habe ich mich entschlossen, etwas für mich total Neues auszuprobieren. Ich habe heißes Wachs darüber aufgetragen.
Es handelt sich aber nicht um Kerzenwachs, sondern ich habe vorher eine Mischung aus weißem Bienenwachs mit etwas Dammarharz zusammengekocht. Das Dammarharz macht das Bienenwachs härter und erhöht den Schmelzpunkt des Wachses.
But it is not candle wax, I have cooked together a mixture of white beeswax with some damar resin. The damar resin makes the beeswax harder and raises the melting point of the wax.
Die Fantasie lief beim Arbeiten mit dem Wachs auf Hochtouren und es kam immer mehr Wachs (und auch andere schöne Dinge) auf das Bild.
The imagination was running wild, when working with the wax and I had to add more and more of the wax (and other beautiful things).
Ich dachte zwischendurch "Jetzt ist es fertig", um dann am nächsten Tag doch wieder mehr Wachs hinzuzufügen.
In between, I thought "Now it's done", but the next day I began to add more wax.
Es ist wirklich spannend, damit zu arbeiten.

Jemand hat mich auf Facebook gefragt, was denn mit dem Bild passiert, wenn es warm wird. Ich dachte, dass sich der eine oder andere von Euch bestimmt die gleiche Frage stellt. Also, meine Antwort war: Der Schmelzpunkt des Bienenwachses fängt bei 62 °C an. So warm ist es in keinem Raum, also besteht keine Gefahr, dass das Bild wegschmilzt, allerdings sollte man es tatsächlich nicht längere Zeit in die Sonne oder ein heißes Auto legen und auch nicht gerade über dem Kamin aufhängen. Außerdem habe ich (wie schon erwähnt) dem Bienenwachs auch noch etwas Dammarharz hinzugefügt, welches den Schmelzpunkt noch erhöht.
Someone asked me on Facebook, what happens to the painting, when it is warm. I thought, that the one or the other of you will be asking the same question. So, my answer was: The melting point of beeswax begins at 62 °C. It's in no room so warm, so there is no danger, that the painting melts away, but you should really not put it a longer period in the sun or a hot car and please don't hang it just above the fireplace. I also have (as already mentioned) added some damar resin to the beeswax, which additionally increases the melting point.

Die Textur, die man mit dem Wachs erzielen kann, ist einfach fantastisch. Ich könnte das mit Acryl nicht erreichen. Ich glaube ich bin schon nach dem ersten Versuch dem Wachs verfallen.
The texture, which can be achieved with the wax, is just fantastic. I could not reach it with acrylics. I think I'm already addicted to the wax after the first attempt.
I'm sure, that I want to continue to discover this wax-thing. However, the summer holidays are almost here and there is so much else to do, before our holiday begins. I may have to wait a little bit.
